POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Liaison Specialist

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as the primary recruitment, retention, administrative and process staff person for Certification Content Expert Panels, Boards, and Appointments Committee. In keeping with standards set by the Commission on Certification and in consultation with the Director of Certification, drafts and implements policies and procedures for volunteers activities . Promotes timely, accurate communication with all volunteers involved in the certification activities of ANCC. Coordinates with other staff in Certification Services, Measurement Services, and within areas of ANCC/ANA to accomplish the mission of the COC and its volunteers. This position builds and helps to retain positive relationships with our volunteers and board members to advance the perceived value of certification and the Certification Department. Collaborates with the Director and staff in developing plans and proposes creative methods to enhance the need and desire for certification through the relationship and utilization of our volunteers during and after their terms. Markets the volunteer opportunities to ANCC certified nurses and the public through news articles, online call for volunteers and broadcast emails. Formulate timelines, in conjunction with procedures, to ensure that events and tasks are accomplished in a timely manner. Composes quarterly information/articles for the TAN, Credentialing News and Web submission related to recruitment and retention.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelors required. Minimum of 4 years progressively responsible experience working with volunteers, board members, managing multiple priorities, project management and database management requiring attention to detail, and developing policies and procedures. Experience in association work or credentialing programs is desirable. Ability to act independently, coordinate and follow through on several projects concurrently, work under pressure and maintain strict timeline schedules. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas concisely. Problem solving skills required. Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to interact on a daily basis with staff member, board members, volunteers, high level professionals and the public. Ability to maintain computerized files and databases is essential. Proficiency in use of word processing and database software, with demonstrated ability in MS Word and Access (or comparable software). Must have excellent customer service skills.
