A: Members will receive American Nurse Today on a monthly basis beginning in October 2006.
Q 2: Will the magazine offer CE credits?
A: Yes, American Nurse Today will include opportunities for individuals to earn CE credits as well as many other exciting features.
Q 3: What periodicals do I receive as a benefit of membership?
A: Members will continue to receive a number of periodicals as a benefit of membership. These include The American Nurse bimonthly newspaper, American Nurse Today, the new official journal of ANA which is a monthly magazine debuting in October 2006, as well as their state nurses association’s newsletter. In addition, members may choose to subscribe to a number of e-newsletters that are available through ANA’s Web site, NursingWorld, (www.NursingWorld.org).

A: No, AJN will no longer be the official journal of the ANA after the September 2006 issue. Beginning in October 2006, ANA members will receive the brand new official journal of ANA, American Nurse Today.

A: It’s a financial business decision. Despite lengthy discussions between ANA and Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), the owner and publisher of AJN, we were unable to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement to continue the relationship.

A: Yes. ANA sought input from CMA leaders and delegates regarding their support for a dues increase to financially support the continuation of AJN as a benefit of membership. The majority who responded did not support a dues increase.
Q 9: Don’t my member dues pay for my subscription to AJN?
A: Member dues have never been used to pay for subscriptions to AJN. In 1996, ANA sold AJN to LWW. Proceeds from the sale of the journal were used to fund subscriptions for members for 10 years. Before that, AJN had never been included as a benefit of membership and had been available to individuals as a paid subscription.
