Education, Research and Scholarship--
Maintaining nursing excellence

The American Nurses Credentialing Center provides a variety of education resources for nurses, students, and educators. Whether you're looking for nursing continuing education to fulfill certification renewal requirements, a nursing student looking for grants or research opportunities, or a provider of nursing continuing education seeking ANCC accreditation, we're here to meet your needs.

Grants and research

For emergent scholars conducting dissertation research or evidence-based projects in the field of credentialing for nurses, the Institute also awards the Margretta Madden Styles Credentialing Scholars Grant (CSG) for doctoral dissertation research. Nurses enrolled in doctoral study, who have committee-approved dissertation proposals or evidence-based projects examining the areas of certification of nurses, accreditation or Magnet nursing services recognition, are eligible to apply.      In addition, the Institute is conducting the largest international study of the certified nurse workforce in conjunction with the Nursing Credentialing Research Coalition (NCRC), a coalition of 23 certifying bodies in nursing and other disciplines representing over 410,000 certification holders. The Institute also houses the Scholar-in-Residence program attracting researchers, doctoral student research, and research interns who design, implement, evaluate and apply credentialing research in support of building the body of science and knowledge for credentialing. And with the help of a significant contribution from the Institute, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) has launched the ICN Registry of Credentialing Research (ICN-RCR©)—a Web-based resource designed to help disseminate research findings in the field of credentialing.

Review Courses and Manuals

The Institute for Credentialing Innovation (The Institute) sponsors several review courses that offer contact hours as well as preparation for certification exams. The Institute is committed to providing high quality, diverse services for today's busy registered nurse and health care professional. Nursing experts in their respective specialty areas have written the review and resource manuals in an organized format to help candidates prepare for a variety of certification exams. The Institute review manuals and seminars enhance your critical thinking skills and effectively identify areas of strength and weakness. For a complete list of review products, click here.

Continuing Education for Nurses

Nursing is a dynamic, ever-evolving profession. Advances in medical technology, new treatment options, and changes in health-care delivery can make it a challenge for nurses to stay ahead of the curve. That's why it's so important for practicing nurses to have the most up-to-date information on continuing education options—whether for professional advancement or maintaining certification—and for nursing students to know where to look for financial assistance. The American Nurses Credentialing Center is proud to help those in the nursing profession achieve their educational goals.

Although continuing education is available from many providers, we urge you to consider those that have distinguished themselves by earning accreditation from ANCC. Drawing on a tradition that goes back nearly 30 years, ANCC is uniquely positioned to provide the judgment of professional nurses on the quality of continuing education. ANCC accreditation is a peer-review system based on designated standards and criteria for continuing nursing education. Click here for a list of all ANCC-accredited CE providers.

Accreditation for CE providers

Affirm your excellence as a provider of continuing education for nurses with the distinction of ANCC accreditation. With the ANCC "seal of approval," you will become a trusted source of continuing education for nurses everywhere. Whether your specialty is nursing education, or you provide education in multiple disciplines; whether you operate locally or nationally; or whether you are established or just starting out, you owe it to yourself to consider ANCC accreditation.
