Picture of Isabel Hampton Robb

This nurse couldn't vote.

100 years ago, Isabel Hampton Robb was elected first President of the American Nurses Association. However, she was a woman. And women weren't allowed to vote for President, Senator, Representative or any other elected official in this country.

You can.

Things are different today.
You can make nursing's presence known and
encourage better healthcare policy.

It's time to make our opinions count.

ANA's RN VOTER
National Voter
Registration Drive

Welcome to RN VOTER, a nurse voter registration drive launched during the American Nurses Association's Centennial. We are asking your help in promoting voter registration to nurses with whom you work and other people who care about the issues that affect our health, our profession, and our lives.

One hundred years ago, Isabel Hampton Robb was instrumental in building the foundation of the American Nurses Association and became ANA's first president. However, she was a woman, and therefore not allowed to vote for President of the United States. Today, both men and women in nursing count, but all our voices cannot be heard unless we are registered to vote.

Registered nurses should be registered to vote. Your leadership is critical to help make professional nursing's voice heard louder than ever. Thank you.
