Background

In order to implement planning for the nursing workforce, legislation has been introduced that would require the collection of nursing supply and demand data. Legislation passed this year in MS directs the Office of Nursing Workforce to ensure an adequate supply of nurses while legislation passed in ND and TN allows the board of nursing to address issues of supply and demand for nurses including issues of recruitment, retention and utilization of nurses. FL and TX law establishes a nursing workforce data center.

Legislation was introduced in GA and NM that directs the board of nursing to evaluate supply and demand of nurses. HI and NJ legislation would establish the state center of nursing to address issues of supply and demand.
