One Week Left to Have Your Say on Health System Reform!!
ANA has submitted a detailed response to the Citizens' Health Care Working Group regarding Interim Recommendations on health system reform. These recommendations are based on months of community meetings and online surveys and polls by the Working Group, and are meant to represent the views of tens of thousands of Americans regarding the financing and services they believe this country's health system should offer. ANA supports some recommendations, suggests modifications for others, and offers significant additions.

ANA has worked diligently to encourage nursing's input throughout the Working Group's process of gathering public opinion. Nurses must continue to inform this process as thoroughly as possible --
- do you agree or disagree with the recommendations?
- have they included the full scope of nursing's role in patient care and community planning?
- how would you go about implementing some of these recommendations? What are the day-to-day realities?

These recommendations on health care and improving the health care system in the United States are based on what the Citizens’ Health Care Working Group heard from the American people. The congressionally mandated Citizens' Health Care Working Group is winding up its efforts to elicit citizen opinion on health system reform. - Is health care a right? If so, are there responsibilities that accompany that right?
- How much health care? What benefits and services should be provided?
- How should health care be delivered and by whom?
- How should we pay for it? Who should pay and how much?
- What kinds of trade-offs are we willing to consider in terms of services or cost?
The goal? A citizens' roadmap of how to make health care work for all Americans.
