Citizens' Health Care Working Group

One Week Left to Have Your Say on Health System Reform!!

ANA has submitted a detailed response to the Citizens' Health Care Working Group regarding Interim Recommendations on health system reform. These recommendations are based on months of community meetings and online surveys and polls by the Working Group, and are meant to represent the views of tens of thousands of Americans regarding the financing and services they believe this country's health system should offer. ANA supports some recommendations, suggests modifications for others, and offers significant additions.

ANA Letter to CHCWG | ANA's Comments on the Interim Recommendations

A week remains for you to get your own response in to the Working Group; the deadline for comments is August 31st. Go to www.citizenshealthcare.gov to read the recommendations and comment online. ANA has worked diligently to encourage nursing's input throughout the Working Group's process of gathering public opinion. Nurses must continue to inform this process as thoroughly as possible --

  • do you agree or disagree with the recommendations?
  • have they included the full scope of nursing's role in patient care and community planning?
  • how would you go about implementing some of these recommendations? What are the day-to-day realities?

This is your chance! Don't miss it!

Nurses' Opinion on Health System Reform More Important Than Ever

The Congress has created a national forum to elicit citizens’ thoughts about how we should reform America’s health care system. And the voices of nurses need to be heard!

The congressionally mandated Citizens' Health Care Working Group is winding up its efforts to elicit citizen opinion on health system reform. Your voice, as a member of this nation's treasured nursing community, is more important than ever. Don't miss this chance to share your valued and informed opinion on key questions, such as:

  • Is health care a right? If so, are there responsibilities that accompany that right?
  • How much health care? What benefits and services should be provided?
  • How should health care be delivered and by whom?
  • How should we pay for it? Who should pay and how much?
  • What kinds of trade-offs are we willing to consider in terms of services or cost?

The goal? A citizens' roadmap of how to make health care work for all Americans. As a nurse, you have much to contribute to this national dialogue – your skill, your experience, your compassion, your ideas. By participating with the Working Group you can have an inside track to influence the deliberations of Congress and the President. Don't miss your chance!
