Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program
01/31/07 The Federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has just posted the 2007 application for the Nurse Education Loan Repayment Program. This ANA-supported program pays back up to 85% of outstanding student loans for approved RNs who agree to work full-time in a facility deemed to have a critical shortage of nurses (nursing homes, disproportionate share hospitals, community health centers, rural health clinics and others).

CDC "An Ounce of Prevention" Campaign
01/30/07 Arming health educators and consumers with information as well as practical and useful tips on preventing infectious diseases, the Ounce of Prevention campaign was created by the National Center for Infectious Diseases, Coordinating Center for Infectious Diseases of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in partnership with Reckitt Benckiser, Inc., the makers of LYSOL® Brand Products.
The campaign's goal is to provide resources about handwashing, cleaning and disinfection, and other easy-to-follow steps in an effort to develop and maintain successful hand hygiene and cleaning practices. For more information go to the CDC web site at: www.cdc.gov/ounceofprevention

01/26/07 Sidwell Friends School a coeducational Quaker day school seeks full-time School Nurse for its Washington, DC, Tenleytown campus. The School Nurse serves as the primary health provider for students (grades 5 -12) and employees, and is responsible for the general management and oversight of campus health services. Duties include operation of the campus infirmary; administering first aid; dispensing medication; maintaining health, dental, emergency and immunization records; and ensuring compliance with all regulations established by the District of Columbia Health Department.
Bachelor’s degree; current RN license for the District of Columbia; current AED, CPR and First Aid Certification; and five years nursing experience required. The successful candidate must be warm and friendly, able to work independently and understand the needs and issues of children ages 10-18.
Basic computer skills expected. Master’s degree, Board certification and school nursing experience highly desirable. This 12 month position becomes available on or before March 1, 2007. The School offers a very competitive salary and benefits package.

4th Annual International Bayada Award for
Technological Innovation in Nursing Education and Practice
01/26/07 Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP) announced the fourth annual Bayada Award for Technological Innovation in Nursing Education and Practice. The award, sponsored by brothers Mel and Mark Baiada, recognizes the importance of incorporating technology in nursing for improved patient outcomes.
Two $5,000 cash awards will be presented: one to a nursing educator whose innovation leads to improved student clinical competency or efficiency of curriculum delivery, and one to a practicing nurse whose innovation leads to improved patient care.
