The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing is excellent! Its formatting and writing style are easy to follow and inviting to read. It focuses on analysis of current trends and issues that affect health care, nursing, and patients. Recent topics include shared governance, patient safety, entry into practice, the nursing shortage, complementary therapies, administrative ethics, and electronic publishing. The articles are written by nurse leaders from around the country including Sister Rosemary Donley, Claire Fagin, Marjory Gordon, Davina Gosnell, Ada Sue Hinshaw, Barbara Holtzclaw, Claire Jordan, Karlene Kerfoot, Tim Porter-O'Grady, Mariah Snyder, and many more.
This online journal, published jointly by the ANA and the Kent State School of Nursing, is free! It's an easy and effective way to stay updated on the issues affecting us all. I encourage all nurses and others involved in health care to log on and read this. I don't think anyone will be disappointed.

In my career I have had the opportunity to work with many creative, talented and committed professionals across this country, but the vision, teamwork and innovation of the faculty and partners of the Kent State University College of Nursing in the development of the Online Journal of Issues in Nursing (OJIN) is unsurpassed. As a result, the OJIN has become the knowledge leader and standard bearer in the field of online publications for the nursing profession. In seven years since its inception, the monthly readership has grown to more than 80,000 user sessions a month, which is equivalent to a quarter of a million user sessions per topic. Readers include nurses, prospective nurses, and other health care professionals.

OJIN provides cutting edge information to practicing nurses who need easy access to information. As nurses have become more technologically savvy, this online journal fills a niche. With evidenced-based practice a foundation of most nursing departments today, access to new knowledge in an ever-changing world is critical.

I just finished reading Dr. Budd's article, "Traditional and Non-Traditional Collective Bargaining: Strategies to Improve the Patient Care Environment," which I discovered at an opportune time for two reasons. First, I have been involved with our Faculty Association for several years and am now on the negotiating committee. We will have a crucial meeting tomorrow. Unfortunately, Interest-Based Bargaining is not an option. In addition, I teach a course on nursing issues and today the nurses in our province of New Brunswick published the results of a strike vote... 98.2% in favor of a strike. Your article is very relevant for this situation also.
Thank you!
