Letter by Cady L. Salisbury on
Legislative Column titled "The Policy and Politics of Continued Competence" by Greer Glazer (November 9, 1999)

Dear Editor:

I have just finished reading the Legislative Column titled "The Policy and Politics of Continued Competence." I am a nursing student at Brigham Young University and I was looking up some articles for one of my nursing classes when I found your article. I would like to remark, upon reading this article, that I agree with what you have said about competency and politics. I am wondering what your ideas are in this regard and if you have any plans to put these ideas into action. I think there must be ways of keeping nurses' levels of knowledge current so that patients don't suffer from a nurse's lack of knowledge.

Thanks again,

Cady L. Salisbury
