ANA Launches Site on World Wide Web

In celebration of its centennial anniversary, ANA is poised to lead the nursing community into the next century with its latest online service called Nursing World. ANA has developed the Nursing World, available on the World Wide Web, to complement the highly successful Nurse*Forum online service (available on CompuServe) launched last year. Users of the Nurse*Forum will not only have the benefits of that service, as well as the depth of resources available on CompuServe's network, but will have access to the wealth of resources on Nursing World. Computer users who only have access to the Internet will still be able to enter Nursing World.

ANA will showcase Nursing World at the ANA Convention and Centennial Celebration in Washington, D.C., this month. Nursing World will offer users worldwide access to nursing information, products and services from various sources. Users will be able to find the information they are looking for with little effort. Nursing World will provide users with up-to-the-minute news and information on nursing, health care, legislative and regulatory issues, plus access to nursing-related databases and services--a one-stop-shop of nursing information.

Need to know when the next certification exam is? Visit the Events Calendar and see what's coming up. Want to see the latest action on Capitol Hill? Drop by the Capital Watch, dedicated to the latest news, testimony and happenings in government. Want to discuss emerging issues in nursing with your colleagues? Visit our live Conference Rooms where users can hold "keyboard" conversations with colleagues around the world. Also, users can visit the Marketplace to see the latest in nursing-related products, services and publications and can even order products online.

In addition, Nursing World will offer several unique features not found anywhere else on the Web. Users will be able to create customized searches to retrieve information of specific interest to them. Also, the service will offer a journal developed by the Kent State University School of Nursing exclusively for the Nursing World called the Online Journal of Issues in Nursing. Users will be able to read the journal online or download a copy for later use. Finally, Nursing World users will have the choice of subscribing to a number of database services that will provide them access to a wealth of additional nursing resources.

This is just a glimpse of what is in store on the Nursing World. Be sure to check Nursing World (at http://www.NursingWorld.org) on the Internet and let us know what you think. Your participation will help to shape the future of this service. ANA is committed to putting nursing's future at your fingertips.
