Executive Director Selected for the American Nurses Credentialing Center

Washington, DC -- Dr. Cecilia F. Mulvey, president of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), announced today the appointment of Jeanne Floyd, PhD, RN, CAE, as ANCC executive director. In making the announcement, Mulvey stated, "I am delighted that the ANCC Board of Directors identified an individual who so exactly meets every qualification needed by ANCC to fulfill its vision."

Floyd, certified as an association executive by the American Society of Association Executives, also held ANCC certification as a community health nurse until 1999. She has over 14 years association leadership experience, including positions with the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, the Midwest Alliance in Nursing, and Sigma Theta Tau. Currently she is director of strategic development for Sigma Theta Tau International.

Among the many awards and honors bestowed on Dr. Floyd is the Community Health Nursing Award from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Relevant to the work of ANCC, Floyd received grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Division of Nursing and the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation for planning Internet continuing education modules for nurses who care for persons with mental retardation.

Floyd’s special concern for the medically under-served has led her to develop a nursing informatics update for faculty and to volunteer her services among the Native American population.

Upon receiving news of the ANCC board’s decision, Floyd remarked that she was pleased to accept the appointment and continued, "I am challenged to take ANCC to the next level of excellence."

Floyd’s appointment will become effective March 5, 2001.
