Wiseman Joins ANA as Workplace Advocacy SpecialistWashington, DC -- Rebecca Wiseman, PhD, RN, has accepted the position of staff specialist in the Center for Workplace Advocacy at the American Nurses Association (ANA). Wiseman brings to her new position more than 27 years diverse experience in nursing and health care education and administration. As Workplace Advocacy staff specialist, Wiseman will provide staff support to ANA's Commission on Workplace Advocacy. In that capacity, she will coordinate the work of ANA and its constituent members associations (CMAs) regarding workplace advocacy strategies and will consult with individual nurses on their workplace issues. "We're excited about Rebecca joining ANA," said Chief Executive Officer Linda Stierle, MSN, RN, CNAA. "She has the nursing, administrative and educational background and the hands-on experience needed for this very important role in our organization. She will definitely be an asset to ANA and to our Center for Workplace Advocacy, in particular." Workplace Advocacy Commission Chairperson Clair Jordan, MSN, RN, concurred. "Rebecca will serve as a vital link between state and national-level workplace advocacy activities, while also working directly with individual nurses regarding their ongoing workplace concerns." Wiseman most recently served as director in the Wellness Center and as case management program coordinator for performance improvement at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD. Prior to that, she spent several years working for various hospitals in the District of Columbia, Florida and Pennsylvania, as a clinical pathways coordinator and an education coordinator and manager. In addition, Wiseman has a background in higher education, having served most recently as a joint faculty member at Mary Black School of Nursing, University of South Carolina, and Spartanburg Regional Medial Center, both in Spartanburg, SC. Wiseman received a doctor of philosophy from the School of Nursing at the University of Maryland at Baltimore and a master of science degree from the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania.
