ANA House of Delegates to Tackle Critical Nursing IssuesDelegates Will Act on Proposed Bylaws to Create a New Association Structure Washington, DC -- Today's registered nurses (RNs) face many issues that are critical to their practice, their patients and health care in general. Convening to address many of those issues, the American Nurses Association House of Delegates (HOD) will meet in Washington, DC, June 25 - June 27, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. With an eye toward implementing resolutions critical to the profession, the HOD will address workplace issues for HIV-positive nurses; nursing issues related to therapeutic and reproductive applications in genetics science; the role of public health nurses in strengthening the public health infrastructure; insurance coverage for injuries or illnesses arising from acts of terrorism; and providing patients with safe access to therapeutic marijuana. In addition, HOD delegates are expected to act on proposed bylaws that will create a new structure for the association. Members of the press should stop by the ANA Press Office located in the Cabinet Room of the Omni Shoreham Hotel for registration and additional informational materials.
# # # The American Nurses Association is the only full-service professional organization representing the nation's 2.7 million Registered Nurses through its constituent member state nurses associations. The ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the economic and general welfare of nurses in the workplace, projecting a positive and realistic view of nursing, and by lobbying the Congress and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public.
