FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Silver Spring, MD - The American Nurses Association (ANA) is proud to continue its efforts focusing national attention on the plight of the millions of Americans currently without health insurance. ANA is one of the founding partners of Cover the Uninsured Week, which is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Now in its fifth year, Cover the Uninsured Week brings together individuals and organizations from all 50 states and the District of Columbia to demand that our nation's leaders find solutions for the more than 46 million Americans living without health insurance. This year, Cover the Uninsured Week comes at a critical moment in the health coverage debate. After 10 years, The State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) must be reauthorized by Congress to continue its vital role in providing coverage for children living in families earning too much for Medicaid, but not enough to afford private insurance. ANA wants to provide a forum for nurses to add their voice to the health coverage debate. ANA, along with our partners in Cover the Uninsured Week, are asking nurses to share their stories and experiences related to health care issues. Your story may be used in Cover the Uninsured Week campaigns to help illustrate the vital need for adequate health care coverage.
