the american nurse: Guidelines for TAN Authors
The American Nurse,
the only national newspaper for nurses, is the official publication of the
American Nurses Association. The newspaper is published six times a year
(January/February, March/April, May/June,July/August, September/October,
November/December).
The American Nurse strives
to feature a balance ofnews including workplace issues, job security and
career trends, nursing practice, health care policy and legislation,
political action and more. Also featured is news of the American Nurses
Association and its 54 state and territorial constituent member
associations.
We are looking for articles with a direct link to
staff nurses, our largest membership and
readership segment. Except in extraordinary circumstances, submitters must
be members of an ANA-affiliated state nurses association. The newspaper
follows Associated Press (AP) style. Articles should be no more than 800
words in length and should have a newspaper "angle." We do not accept
research and journal articles. Please, no articles on new medical
equipment or pharmaceuticals!
Articles should give nurses
information they can readily use (how health care reform will affect my
job, what new career opportunities are available, how quality of care is
jeopardized with reduced RN staffing).
The American Nurse also accepts letters to the
editor, which should be limited to 350 words.
